Shnitzel at School

Friday night was a quiet dinner. Danya slept over in Jordys room which meant she slept thrugh the night so we all actually got a decent nights sleep.

Shabbat morning we went to the Gerson's for lunch along with the Neuman Family minus Jon who wasn't feeling well and Myrna. We had a delicious lunch and left stuffed! Danya and Tamar went home with Rachel and stayed until Shabbat. Myrna wanted to go on a walk and asked if she could see my parents house so she and I took Jordy over there. Lisa was napping so Myrna took the short tour. Good news was Jordy stayed to play with Moshe until Shabbat was over so I went home and got in a nap.

Sunday morning I ran some errands in Modiin. Danya came home from school and she had all her activities in the afternoon. Jordy had his first day of extended school day.

Some background on extended school day: We got a note back in early December saying that someone donated money to enrich ganim in certain Yishuvim in Israel and Jordys gan was selected as one. They needed 75% of parents to agree on it for it to happen and we would be required to pay an additional 125 shekel. We would then have our kids at gan until 3:30pm 4 days a week(as opposed to 1:20pm) and they would also receive a hot lunch. Obviously most parents were on board and we received the funding almost immediately. Like everything though, it took some time to work out all the details. I really didn't think it would ever actually happen and I also thought they should have waited for the new school year to do it rather than rush into it and not have it thoroughly thought out. In addition I was concerned because I was paying for a private after school activity 3 days a week and didn't think it was nice to drop this woman and her program in the middle of the year(luckily this woman was VERY understanding). Anyway, we got a note on Friday saying that the program was starting on Sunday.

Jordy was in school until 3:30 and he reported that he had a really yummy lunch of noodles and shnitzel(it's Israel, what else would they have?).
Today I went to my friend Devorah's house so she could teach me some more jewelry making techniques and we sat and made earrings and chatted all morning. After school was over I took Danya to English and then ran to the grocery store for a few things. I picked her and Jordy up and we headed home. When I asked Jordy what they gave him for lunch he told me that he doesn't like having hot lunch at school. Then his whole face lit up and he said "We had rice and meatballs!". So I am not sure why he doesn't like eating the hot lunch at school but he seems to actually like the food!

Fever and High School Musical 2

Well, last Thursday morning Danya woke up with a fever. She had 102. She was sad and sick. We loaded her up with Motrin and let her rest.
On Friday Danya's fever went up to 104.4 so I decided amidst my cooking, that I should take her to the doctor. They took a throat culture(which she did not appreciate!) and said it is probably a virus. When we came home Josh gave her a shower and she was so freezing after that she fell asleep under a dozen blankets wrapped in her towel.
The Hubscher family came for Shabbat. Malka Hubscher teaches at Midreshet and Midreshet was having a Shabbaton in Hashmonaim so they asked if they could stay here. I did warn them that everyone in the house was sick but they said they were also sick so didn't mind. We were also supposed to have Avi Varnai over for dinner but for some reason her school put her somewhere else even though we requested she come here. Shabbat was nice. We ate dinner with the Hubschers. Shabbat morning Danya woke up perfectly fine. She asked if she could go to the big shul to see her friends so we let her. After she returned we went to our neighbors for lunch. Danya and Jordy were disappointed that they didn't have toys or kids to play with but were excited at the opportunity to try on their "baby's" army jacket. After a very big lunch I headed home and Josh took the kids to play at the Balsams. After Shabbat Danya was trying to do her homework and she was losing it. She was very crabby and I knew something was up. I took her temperature and turns out she had 102...oops! So back to bed she went.
On Sunday morning I borrowed High School Musical 2 from Lori and Danya and I watched it either 3 or 4 times in a row. It isn't a bad movie, just not my first choice for a movie marathon.
Monday morning she didn't have fever but I decided to keep her home one more day just to be sure she wasn't sick.
Tuesday was a happy day! Danya went back to school, hooray!
Wednesday I went with Josh to the grocery store in the morning and then Yocheved called to see if I wanted to join her on a trip to Yerushliam. We went to a butcher and then to a kids clothing store where I bought Danya 2 skirts and 2 shirts for a little more than $20.
Not much else has been going on here. Oh...we are having our roof repaired since it keeps leaking. That about sums up our excitement(kind of sad, I know).
