Don't get too excited-the sleeping through the night was a fluke. Last night Nadav woke up at 4am again. I guess I should just be grateful for my one night of sleep.
This morning was spent mostly cooking and doing laundry. Then I took Nadav to his tipat chalav appointment. I don't remember how much he weighs and if I go up to get the paper then I won't come back to the computer, so you'll have to be patient. I do remember that his height stayed the same. The nurse remeasured 3 times. Then she said that we will keep an eye on it but chances are that she measured wrong last time. She said that his height is fine though, right in the 50% percentile and didn't seem so concerned. She tried giving him a hearing test but he kept squirming around to look at her so she said we would do it next month. She gave him his shot and I think this was the first time he really cried from it. It was funny because as he took a breath to keep crying it was like he realized that it didn't hurt anymore and he just stopped and smiled. Also, for those who were curious about the other vaccine, she said that I shouldn't worry about it and that was about all she said...so I am not worrying.
Later in the afternoon I walked over to Lisa's to drop something off and pick up Danya. Then we walked to pick Jordy up who was at a friends. On the way home Jordy saw 2 of his classmates. They yelled out to him to say hi and Jordy just ignored them and ran away. I called to Jordy and told him his friends were calling him. He wined "I always have to say hi". So I told him it isn't hard, just say hi or wave. Then he responded that his arm is so tired.

Vaccines Explained-Sort Of
This morning I was woken up by the alarm clock! I know that most people aren't so excited to be woken up however the important part is that the alarm clock woke me rather than Nadav. Yes, he went to sleep last night at 8:30pm and slept until 7:10am!!! I am not sure if this should be attributed to the fact that he is almost 7 months old and it is finally time I get a decent nights sleep or the fact that he has started eating a lot more food during the day so he is fuller? I don't really care why, I am just happy to have gotten some sleep! In case you were wondering about the foods that Nadav eats he loves sweet potatoes, carrots and green beans. He always spits the peas out so unless I mix them with something else he wont eat them. He liked the squash but he broke out in a rash after eating them so we are giving them a break and will try them again soon. In the fruit department he likes apples, prunes and pears. I mashed up a banana for him and he didn't like it but he loved a banana when he ate it from the mesh food feeder. He also ate some melon in the feeder and loved it. Once I mashed up some avocado but he didn't like that either.
Anyhow, back to our day. So Josh got Danya and Jordy out while Nadav and I ate breakfast together. Then the 3 of us headed to the grocery store. Josh often comes with me for a few reasons. First because he likes to choose his hummus. Next because I can't fit all the groceries in the stroller basket and I can't push the stroller and cart at the same time(and there is no where to put Nadav in the cart). Mostly because he helps bag the groceries and push the cart to the car(this is a 2 person job as the carts don't roll normally).
Not long after we got home I took Nadav and we picked up Lisa and Merav and dropped them off at a doctors appointment. Then Nadav and I went to the butcher to pick up our order. We went back to the doctors office and I went to the pharmacy to pick up a vaccine that Nadav needs. Most of the vaccines are covered by the government however there are 2 that I know of so far that aren't covered. So you have to get your doctor to write you a prescription, you buy the vaccine and then you get the regular nurse to administer it(as opposed to the tipat chalav nurse who administers the other vaccines). The problem now is that the one I was trying to buy, and I have been to 3 different pharmacies trying to get it last week, is that it was just added to the goveremnt provided vaccine list. Since it was there seems to be a shortage. I am not sure why-if it is because all available vaccines are going to the tipat chalav or because all the sudden people who weren't getting vaccinated because it was too expensive are now getting it-but I can't get it. We have an appointment at tipat chalav tomorrow(I completely forgot about this appointment until just right now....good thing I decided to update the blog!) so I will ask them what the story is. I picked up Jordy then and we headed home. Nadav took a nap and I made some more baby food. Everyone ate dinner including Nadav who ate chicken for the first time. He didn't seem to love it but then again didn't spit it out and make a terrible face like he does with the peas.
In other news-I have just caught up on my American Idol watching. Maybe this isn't blog worthy news but I am putting it out there. A shout out to Danny Gokey who I thought should have made it to the finale. Oh well! I am hoping Kris, the underdog, wins. With that I wish you a good night!

Lag B'Omer and a Green Thumb
The problem with not blogging for a while is that I can't remember what has happened.
I know that last week was Lag B'Omer. From the day after Pesach the kids on the yishuv start hunting for pieces of wood to add to their classes bonfire(which Jordy pronounces Bomb Fire). Every day you see kids with wagons, wheelbarrows and dragging tree branches, slabs of wood from house construction sites and anything not nailed down. Danya joined the fun a few times and was very excited for the 7:30pm start time. Since there is no organized bonfire for Jordy's age one of the mothers organized a small group so that the younger kids would feel like they were a part of it. So first we went to Jordy's bonfire. One of the fathers entertained the kids
while a few mothers got the fire going and grilled the hot dogs. Jordy was not interested in the hot dogs but only wanted the marshmallows. The funnier part was he wanted his marshmallows on a stick, not roasted but rather straight from the bag. 
So strange! Jordy, Nadav and I returned home to see the first grade boys bonfire right across the street from our house. So we spent a little time watching and listening to their sing along. Then Josh took Danya to her fire while I got Jordy and Nadav into bed. Then Josh and I switched and he came home to work while I went to help supervise Danya's fire.
Theirs was run by Bnei Akiva and they had 2 girls running activities and they had a ton of food-hot dogs, potatoes, chips, marshmallows etc. At around 9 we headed home and then I went to our neighbors, the Blocks, who had a gathering around their fire pit. I had a really nice time hanging out there.
One day this past week Danya was invited to her friends house who has a pool. She was invited to swim but only if she came with a parent to watch the kids since the friends mom couldn't do it. So I went over with Nadav and we sat for an hour and watched the 2 girls swim.
Danya was thrilled! Toward the end the mom came out and she and I chatted for a while. It was nice because as I know who she is and our kids have been in school together for 3 years and are friends I don't think we have ever had a conversation. I also like having one on one conversations with Israeli's as I feel I really get a chance to speak in hebrew. I know that sounds dumb, as I live in Israel, but I almost never speak Hebrew. Most people here speak English.
In other highlights, this past Shabbat, Lisa and Nafi had a kiddush at their house in honor of their new baby, Merav.
I helped organize the kiddush so that took up some time this week. On Shabbat morning we went over there early and helped set up and keep things moving during the kiddush. After it was over we stayed and had lunch with them and Nafi's parents and sister, Yael, who were in town. We hung out most the day and then I brought Jordy, along with Nadav, to a birthday party at a friends. We finally got home at around 6 and we were exhausted from a hot, busy day!
Last night Lori and I had our coffee to the soldiers. We realized we should have brought them ice cream rather than hot drinks as it was in the 100 degree range yesterday.
This morning I went to book club where we discussed The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. If you are looking for a good read with a lot of twists, this is a great book.
In other news, Josh has decided that we are going to renovate our lawn/garden ourselves(ok, he has done pretty much all the work).
For those of you who don't know, we don't have the best track record when it comes to landscaping. In Chicago our next door neighbor, who was retired, had a perfect lawn and took role call of each blade of grass each morning while our grass was overgrown. Then we moved to Israel and yes, our next door neighbor is a landscaper! So we are destined to have worse lawns than our neighbors. The thing is that Israeli's are big on their landscaping and gardens. I don't think I have any green thumbs but I am learning. Well Josh has been spending each morning working hard digging up weeds, dead grass and planning. This week he went to the gardening store and bought a whole bunch of plants for our new.....cactus garden! He planted it and realized he needed more so I decided to go back with him to the plant store and I got addicted. I decided I would be in charge of getting pretty plants to decorate the front of the house. 
I am also going to plant my own herb garden. We told the kids that all the new plants in front are cacti and they should not touch them. Danya had a good line which was "Oh great, I guess I wont be riding my bike in front of the house anymore". Priceless!

Prunes and Pictures
Tuesday we all woke up very early. All the kids got up at 6:30am except Nadav who slept until 7:30am. We got ALL the kids dressed and out the door and it was quiet! I ran some errands in Modiin in the morning and then drove the kids back and fourth to their activities all afternoon. At dinner Nadav tried prunes and ate the whole jar. 
Danny came over after dinner and hung out here for a while.
This morning Nadav and I went to visit Lisa and meet our new niece and cousin.
She is absolutely adorable! Plus, she is itsy bitsy! She is almost 2 pounds smaller than Nadav was when he was born and man does that make a difference! 
We came home and then hung out at home the rest of the day.

Mazel Tov Balsams!
I'd like to wish Lisa and Nafi(and Meira, Moshe and Michali) Mazel tov on the birth of their sabra-a little girl born this evening. Mom and baby girl(and Dad) are doing well. I would also like to wish them mazel tov on FINALLY updating their blog after an almost 2 year hiatus. Hopefully their next post won't take so long!
This morning I was woken up at 4am to what I was sure was a tornado. There was a MAJOR wind storm here and you could hear things flying around outside. Not much later Nadav woke up and after feeding him I then continued to lay in bed awake waiting to hear calls of "Aunt Em, Aunt Em!". The morning was spent in the house cleaning, cooking and playing with Nadav. In the afternoon the Balsam children were here in addition to my kids and Jordys friend. I also spent a good 2 hours driving everyone back and fourth from chuggim and birthday parties(poor Meira...I forgot about the end time of a party she was at and got her a half hour late! Oops!). Nafi called around 6:15 with the news and all the kids celebrated. They were also excited that they were going to sleep over. We then tried to bathe all of them and get them into bed quickly while also answering the phone calls. That didn't work so well. Jordy and Moshe did the best and I think they were sleeping by 9pm. Eventually Michali fell asleep but Danya and Meira were still up at 10:45pm when we finally separated them. That is not going to be good tomorrow! I for one am EXHAUSTED!!! 6 kids are a lot of work!!!!

Yom Haatzmaut
Since I have posted last a lot has happened.
Last Friday Danya and Jordy's classes put on a Yom Haatzmaut show. I have a ton of pictures and will hopefully add them tomorrow. It was very cute and Jordy was very proud that he got to hold the flag for part of it!
Last Sunday Nadav surprised us by taking a nice long nap. I had a bad feeling which was confirmed after he woke up almost 3 hours later burning up. He had 101 for a couple days and then he was fine. He didn't really seem to mind but he did sleep a lot more. He is teething in a big way so I am not sure if it was related to that but he is fine now so we are happy.
Monday night began Yom Hazikron. We warned the kids that at 8pm there was going to be a siren. They know what to do by now but Danya commented to me that she doesn't like the sirens. I asked her why and she answered that it hurts her neck when she stands with her head down for a whole minute!
On Tuesday I took Nadav for his checkup and shots. Since he had just had a fever they couldn't give him the shots but they did measure and weigh him. At 6 months he is weighing in at 7 kilo 370 grams (16.25 pounds) and 68 centimeters (27 inches) tall
Tuesday night began Yom Haatzmaut. After trying to decide what to do we ended up taking the kids to the basketball court where they had a ceremony/celebration. There was a video and Jordy was shown in it. Then there was a huge fireworks display. I am happy to report that not only did Nadav seem to care less about the noise, Jordy, for the first time, didn't cry. We then strolled through the street fair and the kids got cotton candy and snacks and then we headed home and the kids got to bed around 10:30pm.
Wednesday afternoon we had a few families here for a BBQ and then we headed to Beit Shemesh to Josh's cousin Jerry for his annual BBQ. We had a great time there and the kids had a blast.
Shabbat lunch we had the Rotter family minus David and the Mandel family over for lunch. We all sat around chatting until after 4! I got a nap in too!
Today Danya had to stay late after school for detention as she has been arriving late to school. She was very worried about what would happen but in the end it sounded like there wasn't too much supervision and she had a good time. I took Jordy and Nadav to the doctor this afternoon. Jordy has another ear infection and Nadav has a rash on his face that I wanted the Dr. to see. All is well.
In Nadav news-he loves his fruit and now is not really interested in the green vegetables anymore. If he has a tooth it would be a sweet one. He is also getting good at the crawling/squirming across the floor.
I will try to post pictures tomorrow.
