Last Thursday was a quiet day spent mostly around the house doing laundry.
Friday was also pretty quiet as I had minimal cooking to do for Shabbat. In the afternoon we rented out a private pool on the Yishuv for an hour with the Silton's and went swimming. The kids were so excited to be in the pool again! We returned to finish off the Shabbat prep. Friday night the Brodsky's brought dinner over(they wanted us to come to them for dinner but it was not a good idea with Nadav and his sleeping issues, so they made dinner and brought it over. Lisa and Nafi were walking by while we were eating dinner and came in for a while to chat.
Shabbat morning Jordy went to the Balsam's for lunch while the rest of us headed out for lunch at the Cashdan's. Danya was so excited to play with Mimi. Nadav enjoyed looking at their aquariam of fish and watching the guinea pigs. We had a delicious lunch and a wonderful time. On the walk home I was carrying a sleepy Nadav who fell asleep in my arms. We couldn't believe it! He and I napped for a while. Danya returned from Mimi's house and Jordy returned from Moshe's house towards the end of Shabbat. Everyone ate dinner and went to sleep while Josh headed to floor hockey.
Sunday morning I had my book club where we discussed Unbroken which I highly recommend. The rest of the morning and afternoon was our usual. Sunday evening I went to a Bat Mitzvah in Nes Harim. I got home close to midnight.
Monday morning I got the kids out and headed to zumba. Later Josh and I headed to Modiin. I bought a few gifts at the mall while he went to fix someone's computer. Then we came home and the kids came home from school. After dinner Danya and Jordy watched Diary of a Whimpy Kid and then went to sleep. Josh and I decided that since he didn't need to work in the evening due to memorial day that we would watch a movie. We watched Hangover which we had never seen before but was hysterical.

Sleep Over
Yesterday morning I got the kids out to school after minimal sleep-thanks Nadav. After returning home and eating breakfast I decided that I would take a nap. After my nap I headed to Modiin to pick up Nadav's referral to the sleep doctor. The referral wasn't ready and the doctor wasn't in so I will have to return later. After getting gas I went to Rami Levy which was unusually empty-ahhh. In the afternoon Jordy came home with Amitai who brought along his pet turtle. I made the turtle stay outside. I brought the boys to soccer and then picked Nadav up from gan. Danya returned from softball and everyone did their homework. The kids ate dinner and then I went out for a bit. When I returned Josh informed me that Nadav had just fallen asleep at 10pm. This is where he was:

We came home and I promptly made an appointment for a sleep evaluation which will take place next week. The kids ate dinner and then I headed out to a women's only bat mitzvah. Shopping
This morning, after zumba, I went with Laura to check out the mall in Petach Tikvah. The plan was to check out the 2 floor H&M and the Payless which just arrived in Israel a few months ago. We spent a long time shopping and then had a late lunch before heading home. We got stuck in traffic on the way home so Josh picked Nadav up from gan. Danya was home with her friend Rotem doing homework. Jordy had Moshe B. and Covi over playing soccer in the yard. We scraped together dinner and got everyone to bed.

The Catch Up
Here we are again...way behind in the blog as Danya reminds me daily. This time it isn't all my fault. See last Thursday night I realized I was way behind and really wanted to catch up so I sat down at my computer all ready to put up videos, pictures and catch up. But lo and behold blogger was not working. It wouldn't let me do anything. The moment passed and here I am 10 days later finally sitting down again. So only partially my fault.
Last Monday was Yom HaZikaron. I decided that I wanted to be out and about during the siren. I had a couple errands to run so I headed out to shilat and then Modiin around 9:45 as I thought the siren was going to be at 10am as it had been on Yom HaShoah. When I was done with my errands at 10:15 I realized I had mistimed it. I was home at 11am when the siren went off. The kids had play dates most the day(they were out of school at 11:45am). I stopped at Lisa's to borrow some hand me downs from Moshe for Nadav and we had an adventure digging through all the boxes. I then picked Nadav up from gan. We spent the rest of the afternoon at home. Later that evening it was Yom HaAtzmaut. Jordy, Danya and I headed to the yishuv basketball court where we were going to watch the ceremony and the fireworks. We strolled through the street fair and then headed home. After the kids were in bed Josh and I headed to shul across the street for a late night BBQ. Nothing like steak at midnight.
Tuesday morning we decided to take advantage of the free admission to assorted army bases, museums etc. We headed to an air force base that was about 30-45 minutes away. We wanted to get there in time for the fly overs the planes were going to be doing around 11:30am so we left the house at 10:45am. I am not exaggerating when I tell you we arrived at 1:30pm. It took us 2 hours and 45 minutes! The kids were fighting in the car and Nadav was tired. We needed to do a seat change along the way. We did get to see the fly overs from the car. Once we got there we ate our lunches and the walked around and looked at all the planes.
When we were done there it was almost time for us to go to Beit Shemesh to Jerry's BBQ. So we headed towards him and were very on time. We had a great time and ate too much there-as always.
Wednesday everyone was back at school and gan. After Nadav was done at gan I took him to Terem to get an x-ray of his tonsils and adenoids to see if there was anything that may be causing the extreme lack of sleep. In the evening I went to zumba and Nadav was awake when I got home.
Thursday, after the gym, I headed to Modiin to pick up my meat order and stop at a makolet. Otherwise I did a bit of cooking and cleaning.
Friday was more cooking and cleaning and Shabbat prep. Friday night was quiet. We all were lazy and did a lot of reading.
Shabbat morning was more of the same, reading, sleeping and eating. As soon as Shabbat was over Josh headed to Jerusalem to play floor hockey while I got the kids to bed and went to sleep.
Sunday is a vague memory-I know we did something but I can't remember what. Jordy had several friends over in the afternoon.

After I picked Nadav up from gan I took him straight to the ENT who would read the x-ray he had last week and see if his sleep issues were medical. They are not. While I am happy it isn't medical that leaves us at square 1. I came home and we scraped together dinner. I then headed to the school for conferences. Both kids got great reports from their teachers. Each had a few things they needed to work on but overall wonderful news. I then headed home and shortly after Lori and I headed out to take the coffee to the soldiers.
Tuesday I think was mostly spent at home. I can't remember what happened during the day. After getting Nadav from gan we headed back to the pediatrician to see what the next step is in the "get Nadav to sleep" game book. Apparently it is time to see a sleep doctor. There is some leg work that needs to be done- insurance approval, paper work etc. Once upon a time, in a land far away, I used to be an expert in this. Anyhow, we returned home and did the dinner, homework and get the kids to bed dance.
Wednesday morning I went to aerobics since zumba was canceled this week. I can't remember anything else from the day.
Thursday morning I took Jordy to have a hearing test as he was having some headaches and the doctor decided to see if there was something off in his hearing. Thankfully his hearing is fine-he just chooses not to hear anything I say to him. He asked me to come into the booth with him while he was being tested. He had headphones on and I couldn't hear what the tester was saying to him. After the woman asked him to point to pictures on a paper that she said she then asked him to repeat words she said however I didn't know that she had asked him to repeat her. For some reason I thought it was really funny that he just started saying random words out loud and I started cracking up. Then I tried to stop, thinking about how we were in a sound booth and it needed to be quiet and that made it harder to stop laughing. Luckily nobody heard me(no pun intended) and I stopped.
Friday was spent getting ready for Shabbat. Josh took the kids out late in the day for bike riding. Danya got a previously owned bike this week and she was happy to have a bike that fit her. Jordy, who has been reluctant to learn to ride a 2 wheeler, was intrigued so Josh took him on his bike-which is also way to small, and taught him to ride. He was very excited to finally get it. Nadav played while Danya and Jordy rode and I went for a run. Friday night Joel, Zev and 3 of their guests came over for dinner.
Shabbat morning we went to the Zemel's for lunch. They live about as far from us as possible so it took a while to get there(plus Nadav insisted on walking rather than going in the stroller). We had a nice lunch and then an equally long walk home. After lunch Danya and Jordy went to the Balsam's and Josh, Nadav and I headed home. When they returned home we all played in the backyard until Nadav started to get tired/his melatonin kicked in. I got him into bed and then Shabbat ended. After havdallah everyone changed and the lag b'omer fun began. First I brought Jordy to his bonfire location and waited with him for his madrichim and more adult supervision to arrive. Once that was under control I went to meet Danya at her bonfire. I had some of the food for the bonfire so I dropped it off and spent some time there supervising. I returned home and got a call that Jordy was invited to sleep at a friends house. We let him go there straight from the bonfire. Josh and I then headed to the Block's for their annual bonfire and s'mores evening. Danya came home at midnight and Josh and I were out until 2.
Sunday morning Nadav was up early and we convinced him to watch TV in our bed while we slept. I got up and got him out to gan at 8:15. I then returned home and went back to sleep. Josh, Danya and I all woke up around 10ish. We spent a lazy morning at home. Josh picked Jordy up and then I walked Jordy to Yakir's birthday party while Josh took Danya to the art store. Jordy stayed at the Gerson's most the day and Danya worked on her art projects. Eventually everyone came home and we ordered pizza for dinner since we were all still tired and lazy(read:me).

Mother's Day/Yom HaZikaron
Thursday morning after getting the kids out Lisa and I headed to Holmes Place where they were having a health day. For a small donation to Esra you can get your health evaluated and then use the gym. After getting the health evaluation(all healthy) we went to the treadmills. I really enjoy my little gym and it serves it's purposes but man was this place nice! It was more of a health club than a gym. After we finished exercising we stopped at the butcher and then headed home. The rest of the day was spent thinking about Shabbat cooking but not actually doing anything about it. I attempted getting Nadav to bed before heading to my Modiin book club but the kid would not fall asleep. Eventually I left him for Josh(he prefers I put him to sleep). When I returned all was nice and quiet.
Friday morning I had to stop ignoring cooking and begin. Danya and Jordy were both out most of the afternoon with friends so it was fairly quiet in the house. I took Nadav to pick up cookies from Dvora and drop them off at the Neustater's house where we were having lunch on Shabbat day. Eventually everyone made it home, got ready for shabbat and everything got cooked. Friday night we were joined once again by Zev. We had a quiet dinner and he wasn't feeling great so he headed out early.
Shabbat morning was pretty quiet. Danya and Jordy headed to shul and Nadav and I read a lot of ISpy. Lisa came by with most of her kids which kept us entertained the rest of the morning. We then headed to the Neustater's where we had a nice lunch. Nadav was terrified of their dogs who barked really loud. The good news was as we were leaving they took the dogs on a walk and Danya learned that she doesn't really want a dog as when you walk a dog you need to clean up after it. On the way home we stopped at the Mandel's house on the way home and we stayed there for a while. We returned home where Jordy was with a few friends playing soccer. All the boys went to Bnei Akiva and then returned after Bnei Akiva. I got Nadav to sleep before Shabbat was over. Not long after that Danya and Jordy headed to bed and I cleaned the kitchen.
This morning I got Danya and Nadav to school. Then I took Jordy for a follow up appointment at the doctor. While there we discussed Nadav and his lack of sleep. She is sending us for some testing and sleep evaluations...hopefully there is some good sleep in sight. After dropping Jordy at school I headed to Rami Levy where they had a bunch of sales prior to Yom Ha'atzmaut. I have a lot of tomatoes, cucumbers and hummus now. Danya returned home from school to do her homework, Jordy went to a friends and I picked Nadav up. Jordy went to chug torani and Danya went to asafat krashim(collecting wood for a lag b'omer bonfire). After dinner we called Bubs and Savta to wish them a happy Mother's Day however we missed Bub's. Danya then gave me a Mother's Day gift-a booklet she made with coupons for me to redeem for things like babysitting, dish washing and hugs. I already cashed one in tonight. It was a wonderful gift and I was not expecting it. Thanks Danya! After talking to Savta we were all in the kitchen when the siren went off for Yom Hazikaron. It's hard to be somber when Nadav is hitting people and yelling. Regardless of Nadav it is still humbling to think of all the people who put their lives on the line for our safety. I then got Nadav to bed. Not much longer after that Danya and Jordy went to bed.

Another Week Gone By
Thursday morning I contemplated a few Modiin errands. I decided that I would go and save Lisa a trip to the butcher however the butcher had a problem with the meat delivery and our order wasn't going to be ready until late afternoon so I stayed home and began cooking. The kids returned after various activities and play dates. I took Danya and Nadav on a ride with me in the late afternoon to Modiin to get gas and pick up the butcher order and we enjoyed some unseasonal rain. Josh handled dinner while I headed to Hod Hasharon to meet Ayellet Benezra who was in town for a few weeks. 
It took us a while to find a place to go but eventually we went to a cafe for dinner and just hung out and caught up for a while. It was really nice.
Friday morning the kids headed to school and I finished off the Shabbat cooking. Before we knew it the kids were home from school. Josh took them all to Modiin for falafel. The rest of the day was spent nagging the kids to get their rooms clean and shower. Friday night Zev Brodsky joined us for dinner and then the Block's arrived for a little oneg shabbat.
Shabbat morning Jordy went to shul with Josh. Everyone enjoyed their special treat of Entenmann's doughnuts for kiddush. Then Danya and Jordy each had a friend arrive for lunch. The kids played and then went out to other friends for the rest of the afternoon. I took Nadav with me and since he hardly slept the night before he actually fell asleep. Ahh. Danya and Jordy returned and eventually everyone went to sleep.
Sunday morning I got the kids to school and headed to the gym. After returning from the gym Josh and I headed to Tel Aviv where we were meeting Tal and Oshrat.

We spent the afternoon strolling through shuk Ha'pishpuim(the flea market) and along the beach. We came home and soon after so did all the kids. The evening was the usual-eat, homework, make lunches etc.
Monday morning (ok, actually Sunday night as well) was Yom HaShoah. The kids dressed in blue and white and headed to school. I headed to the gym but was home in time for the 10am siren. I usually prefer to be in public during the siren because I like to feel like I am standing together with other people but I was home so it was just Josh and myself. Always very moving to know that the entire country is all taking the same moment of silence to remember. Danya was gone in the afternoon and the evening at Bnei Akiva. Lisa dropped Michali and Merav to play with Nadav while she took Jordy and Moshe to the makolet to buy treats to take on their tiyul(Field trip) the next day.
Jordy and Nadav were home and Josh gave them dinner while I went to a blood drive. The rest of the evening was quiet-ish.
Tuesday morning I got everyone out of the house and headed to the gym. After the gym I went to Rami Levy to buy groceries. After eating lunch I decided it was time to plant my herb garden so I headed to the nursery in shilat. I returned with dill, parsley, cilantro, basil, lemon verbena, chives and a hot pepper plant. Last year we had a problem with them all growing all over the place so this year I potted them:
Aren't they pretty? Any advice to keep the scary caterpillars away? After Nadav came home he went outside to play football. He was wearing his "football helmet" which is really a gladiator helmet that Bubs and Pops bought for a purim costum for Jordy.
Nadav insists it is his football helmet and wears it all the time. Jordy had a few friends over and they were all playing soccer in the backyard. All the kids who were over visiting eventually went home and all my kdis were playing in the year with Josh and nobody wanted to come in for dinner. Eventually everyone ate and took showers and went to bed.
This morning Josh took everyone to school. After school Danya came home to work on a project she had to do for school that involved taking pictures of the same tree at different times during the day. We then printed the pictures and she had to write her observations with the pictures on a poster board. I would take a picture of the poster board however she did it with Daniella and the finished product is at the Kaplansky's so we are out of luck. Jordy and Moshe S. came over after English today and played all afternoon. Everyone happily ate dinner and then I headed to zumba. When I returned at 10:15pm(after running into 2 people-including Talia, who you should thank for pressuring me to blog tonight) Nadav was WIDE awake. Not in pajamas, not sleepy but running around, chattering away and asking for hot dogs and melon. This is after half a melatonin at 7:45pm. Sigh. I got him to bed at 10:45-here's hoping he'll sleep late or even later than usual.
It took us a while to find a place to go but eventually we went to a cafe for dinner and just hung out and caught up for a while. It was really nice.
Friday morning the kids headed to school and I finished off the Shabbat cooking. Before we knew it the kids were home from school. Josh took them all to Modiin for falafel. The rest of the day was spent nagging the kids to get their rooms clean and shower. Friday night Zev Brodsky joined us for dinner and then the Block's arrived for a little oneg shabbat.
Shabbat morning Jordy went to shul with Josh. Everyone enjoyed their special treat of Entenmann's doughnuts for kiddush. Then Danya and Jordy each had a friend arrive for lunch. The kids played and then went out to other friends for the rest of the afternoon. I took Nadav with me and since he hardly slept the night before he actually fell asleep. Ahh. Danya and Jordy returned and eventually everyone went to sleep.
Sunday morning I got the kids to school and headed to the gym. After returning from the gym Josh and I headed to Tel Aviv where we were meeting Tal and Oshrat.
We spent the afternoon strolling through shuk Ha'pishpuim(the flea market) and along the beach. We came home and soon after so did all the kids. The evening was the usual-eat, homework, make lunches etc.
Monday morning (ok, actually Sunday night as well) was Yom HaShoah. The kids dressed in blue and white and headed to school. I headed to the gym but was home in time for the 10am siren. I usually prefer to be in public during the siren because I like to feel like I am standing together with other people but I was home so it was just Josh and myself. Always very moving to know that the entire country is all taking the same moment of silence to remember. Danya was gone in the afternoon and the evening at Bnei Akiva. Lisa dropped Michali and Merav to play with Nadav while she took Jordy and Moshe to the makolet to buy treats to take on their tiyul(Field trip) the next day.
Jordy and Nadav were home and Josh gave them dinner while I went to a blood drive. The rest of the evening was quiet-ish.
Tuesday morning I got everyone out of the house and headed to the gym. After the gym I went to Rami Levy to buy groceries. After eating lunch I decided it was time to plant my herb garden so I headed to the nursery in shilat. I returned with dill, parsley, cilantro, basil, lemon verbena, chives and a hot pepper plant. Last year we had a problem with them all growing all over the place so this year I potted them:
Aren't they pretty? Any advice to keep the scary caterpillars away? After Nadav came home he went outside to play football. He was wearing his "football helmet" which is really a gladiator helmet that Bubs and Pops bought for a purim costum for Jordy.
Nadav insists it is his football helmet and wears it all the time. Jordy had a few friends over and they were all playing soccer in the backyard. All the kids who were over visiting eventually went home and all my kdis were playing in the year with Josh and nobody wanted to come in for dinner. Eventually everyone ate and took showers and went to bed.
This morning Josh took everyone to school. After school Danya came home to work on a project she had to do for school that involved taking pictures of the same tree at different times during the day. We then printed the pictures and she had to write her observations with the pictures on a poster board. I would take a picture of the poster board however she did it with Daniella and the finished product is at the Kaplansky's so we are out of luck.
