I Can't Hear You

Friday morning Josh took everyone to school including Jordy's giant birthday cake(pictures to come soon). I cleaned up the carrots and pyrex that fell out of the fridge and mopped the floor. I cooked and did laundry in the morning while Josh went to play football and pick up my medicine in modiin. Josh picked Nadav up at gan and then Jordy on his way home from school. He took them to get falafel while Danya was at the Balsam's. Eventually everyone came home and got ready for Shabbat. Danya ended up staying at the Balsam's for Shabbat. Friday night we had a quiet dinner. The Brodsky's came over after dinner and we played Settlers. Somewhere during the day Friday my ear began hurting. As the evening wore on the pain became really bad and I knew I had an ear infection. I had a hard time sleeping from the pain.
Shabbat morning Josh went to shul and at 9 Jordy went as well. I forgot to mention this last week however Jordy began singing Anim Zmerot at shul last week. I went last week and heard him and he did a wonderful job! I didn't get to go this week due to the unbearable pain in my ear however both Jordy and Josh reported that he did it perfect! Hooray! The rest of the day I spent in bed praying that the antibiotic I was taking for the sinusitis was going to fix my ear. When Shabbat ended Danya came home and everyone ate dinner and eventually went to bed.
Sunday morning Josh got everyone out in the morning. I made it to the doctors office. She was surprised to see me again but agreed that I had a major ear problem. She gave me an emergent referral to see an ENT that day and had her receptionist make me an appointment however there were no appointments available on Sunday so they scheduled me for Monday and she gave me a few prescriptions for pain relief and ear drops. Of course I had to go to 2 different pharmacy's to get both medicines because the first one didn't have what I needed. I was so happy to get home and crawl back into bed. I spent the rest of the day counting down the hours until the next dose of pain killer. Josh took care of the carpools and kids all afternoon and gave everyone dinner and got them to bed.
This morning after everyone was off to school Josh drove me to the mall where the new Dr.'s offices are. I went to the ENT and had the most painful procedure done. He confirmed what my Dr. said which was I have a severe infection. He put me on an additional antibiotic and pain killer and then he proceeded to pack my ear(If you have ever had an ear infection you can only imagine how painful this procedure was-I thought I was going to pass out from the pain and the doctor kept apologizing for making me cry). He told me it needs to stay in my ear for 24 hours which means that I can hear nothing out of my left ear until tomorrow afternoon. I then went to meet Josh at Aroma-I thought after all that I deserved an iced coffee and we went home. I returned to my coveted bed and was out cold in no time. Again, Josh was the true hero as he handled all the carpools, dinner, homework, bed time and made lunches for school tomorrow. Not to mention listen to me complain that my ear hurts. Hopefully removing the packing tomorrow will relieve the pressure and pain. Hopefully.

Birthday Party Prep

I guess Nadav having a good night sleep was a fluke. We are back into the wake up at the crack of dawn mode. I really wasn't feeling well last night and took Nyquill so I was out cold this morning. Josh got everyone out and I went back to sleep. Eventually I peeled myself out of bed and got moving on Shabbat cooking. I then went out to buy stuff for Jordy's school birthday party tomorrow. He needed cake to serve 33(!!!!) and 33 little goodie bag gifts. I returned home to work on the cake and keep moving forward with the Shabbat cooking. Jordy had a friend over for a play date and then went to chug torani. Danya came home after art. I picked Nadav up after gan. They reported that he napped again and he was so much fun at gan. We came home and made dinner. After dinner I returned to the doctor as I have been sick for a month now. She said I have sinusitis and put me on what she called the bomb of antibiotics which she said will knock anything out of my system. Here's hoping it works. I came home to decorate Jordy's giant birthday cake and finish making the challah. Nadav was not interested in going to bed(shocker) but eventually he stayed in bed. Josh helped Jordy write his Dvar torah for school tomorrow and then everyone went to sleep.

Soup In A Bread Bowl

I spoke to soon. This morning Nadav woke up at some point in the night/morning-I was too tired to look at a clock when he arrived-and then spent the remainder of sleeping time singing/squirming/singing/holding my arm/singing/pushing me/singing until it was time for him to shove his face into Josh's demanding apple juice. "Dayyyie-apple juice peeeease!". Eventually Josh got up and took care of the kids and got them out and I slept a little more without someone holding my arm or sharing my pillow. When Josh got home from shul we headed out to IKEA. They are having a big sale until the end of January so we figured we would check it out and eat in their restaurant. We bought some small stuff and then headed to the cafeteria. Josh was happy to get their soup in a bread bowl(last time we were there they were out of bread bowls). I had a salad bar. When Josh was done eating he had cleaned out his bread bowl and decided that he wanted to bring it home to eat vegetable soup out of. I of course was embarrassed by the fact that he was going to carry a used bread bowl out of the store. He tried getting a take out container or bag but of course there were none. So he wrapped the bowl in a napkin and we started walking out. Of course Josh was aware of how embarrassed I was that he was doing this so he thought it would be more fun if as we were walking he would hold it up and announce that he had a bread bowl. Bread bowl. Bread bowl. I have a bread bowl here. Not sure why I am sharing this with you-my readers-all 7 of you-but it was a little funny(don't tell Josh I said that). Then he made me hold it while he went to the bathroom. Thus ended our adventures at IKEA. We returned home and shortly after Danya came home with a friend. Not long after that I went back to register Nadav for Gan(I tried yesterday but there were to many people and I needed to leave). I decided that I would get there early and there was nobody there. It went pretty quickly and aside from the secretary thinking I was Lisa there to sign Michali up for Kindergarten, it all went well. I think she was even more confused when I walked out and Lisa walked in next. I went home for a bit and then went to pick Nadav up from gan. I got the report that today-for the first time since we have been sending him for the extended day, which is since Sunday- he took a nap! Hooray Nadav! Or as the gannenet informed me Nadav-ie as he insists on calling himself. Anyhow, since he was so well rested and happy I took him straight to Modiin to get new shoes. I am embarrassed to admit that it is the end of January and he is still wearing his sandals from the summer and since it is cold he wears them with socks. So nerdy. Well now he has himself some nice new winter shoes and since we bougth them towards the end of the season they were on sale so procrastination worked in our favor. Nadav was excited to get new shoes however he didn't want to walk in them. I think compared to his sandals they are heavy on his feet. We came home and I made dinner. Then I went to pick Jordy up from a birthday party in Kfar HaOranim-the next yishuv over. Once we got home and everyone had dinner-Josh ate his soup in a bread bowl- we attempted getting everyone in bed. It took everyone a little longer than usual to get into bed so Josh took over while I headed to Zumba.

Happy Birthday Jordy

Sunday was Jordy's birthday! Happy 8th birthday Jordy. I told Nadav that it was Jordy's birthday however I think Nadav was jealous as each time we sang happy birthday Nadav put his name in the song. In the morning I asked Jordy what he wanted for his birthday dinner and he said he wanted pancakes. The kids headed off to school. The exciting news of the day was that we decided to send Nadav to gan for a full day. We told him he would take a nap at gan-he didn't seem so happy about it but he was going. So everyone went to school and gan. I headed to book club in the morning to discuss The Kitchen House by Katherine Grissom-a great book. After book club I did stuff around the house. I read a bit and prepared dinner. I picked up Nadav who did not nap but was well behaved. He was happy to come home but very tired. I also picked up the cookies I had ordered for Jordy from Dvora. On Josh's birthday, back in November, Jordy requested he also get Dvora cookies for his birthday. After Danya's friends returned home from their play date and Jordy came home from chug torani we had birthday pancakes-which Jordy did not eat-for dinner.
(Not sure why the picture keeps rotating however that was Jordy's name, the #8 and a very ugly cake with candles on it). He was excited about the cookies and did eat those-thanks Dvora!

He was also excited about the gift he got from Bubs and Pops-wii accessories-yay! Thanks Bubs and Pops!

He was also excited about the gift he got from Bubs and Pops-wii accessories-yay! Thanks Bubs and Pops!

After dinner Jordy had to do his homework but didn't want to. That is when the evening fell apart. He was VERY mad at me that I wouldn't do the homework for him and he asked me to leave and never come back amongst other things. Eventually everyone went to sleep and I drank a half bottle of wine.

Monday morning Nadav came in our room at almost 7am. If you have been paying attention he has been waking up around 4am the past month and coming to sleep in my bed holding to my arm each morning. So 7am was wonderful! Perhaps his staying all day at gan is tiring him out. I took everyone to school and headed to Zumba. After I returned Ari and Sarah Goldberg came by and we spent most the morning with them and their daughter Talia. In the afternoon Jordy came home with Moshe B. and Danya was home too. I picked up Nadav who again didn't sleep again. Nadav came home and ate 5 string cheeses and then went to sleep. Everyone else ate tuna melt souffle and did their homework.

Today everyone went to school and Josh and I dropped the car in Shilat for an oil change. I looked around in a few stores and then headed to Rami Levy while Josh went on a bike ride. He picked me up after a few hours and we headed home. In the afternoon I went to sign Nadav up for gan next year(he gets to go to the "big gan") however I stood in line for 40 minutes and had to leave. I picked Nadav up and we went home. I made pizza for dinner which Danya and Jordy inhaled. Danya wanted to put Nadav to bed so she did. After that Jordy played Wii with Josh while Danya and I went for a walk. Eventually everyone went to sleep.

A Sweet Story

I almost forgot- I have a cute Nadav story. Tonight he was sitting next to me at the kitchen table watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. All the sudden he puts his arm around me and his head on my shoulder and in a really sweet voice said "Ima HaChamudah" (my sweet Ima or my cute Ima-chamud is a term of endearment). It was so cute it almost made up for his waking me up at 4:45am. Almost.

The Rundown

Ugh, here we go again. The bad news is I haven't blogged in a while because I have been sick for what feels like forever. The good news is that not much has happened since I posted last as I have been sick.
For the most part things have been status quo- Nadav wakes us up at the crack of dawn, climbs in my bed and squirms around until we give in and turn on the TV or take him downstairs for breakfast. Everyone goes to school. I drink 500 cups of tea hoping it will help. Kids come home, go to chuggim, have playdates etc. Kids eat dinner. Everyone goes to bed.
The only highlights were last Shabbat lunch we had guests. The Feldman's and the Katz's came for lunch and we had a really nice time except for my coughing fits.
Wednesday Jordy and Nadav needed their second doses for their flu shots and that ended up being a 3 hour outing.
Thursday Danya went on a Bnei Akiva tiyul for Tu Bshvat. She was gone from 8am until 8:45pm. The tiyul involved a hike in Efrat followed by a concert. She came home exhausted but had a great time.
Friday Danya and Jordy came home from school with their report cards. Both kids did really well and we are really proud of them.
This Shabbat was pretty quiet. After dinner last night we went to the Brodsky's for a cocktail/birthday party for Claudia.
Today Danya had 2 friends come over for lunch as part of Bnei Akiva-they wanted kids to socialize with different kids. So they put Danya with a girl who she is friends with and Tamar-a girl she is related to. Regardless we all had fun.

Tomorrow is Jordy's birthday so hopefully I will dust off the camera and have more to share then.

Murphy's Law and The Plague

Tuesday morning I got the kids out and went to the gym. For some reason my arm was magically better- Murphy's Law I guess-had I waited one more day to visit the doctor do you think it would have been better? Anyhow, I could hardly breathe while running as my cold had progressed and I was so congested. After the gym I went home for coffee and a shower and then headed to Rami Levy. I picked Nadav up at gan and we headed straight to Tipat Chalav for Nadav's well baby visit. Nadav was so happy to sit and color there. Then the nurse told Nadav she was going to give him a Haftah(surprise). Nadav got all excited and asked if he was getting a candy. I felt so bad for him when she pulled out the needle with the vaccine. He was not happy about the haftah however he was happy to get the sticker afterward. All is well with his height and weight. I can't remember his height but he weighs 13.1 kilo. After the required 20 minutes of sitting around in the waiting room to see if you have an allergic reaction we headed to the Turks to pick up a couple things we left at their house in November. We came home just in time to take Jordy to soccer. Yakir was over again as Lori had an appointment and Yakir was not happy to have to watch Blue's Clues with Nadav. Eventually Jordy returned from soccer and all was well in the world again. I started to not feel so good as the day wore on. I tried ignoring it but I knew there was a sinus infection coming on. Again, because I was just at the doctors on Monday. Everyone had dinner and went to sleep. I drank 85 cups of tea hoping to ward off the sinus infection that was plaguing me.
I woke up this morning after very little sleep. It was official-1 full blown sinus infection. Josh got everyone off to school and I tried to sleep but couldn't because all the pain in my head. I picked Nadav up from gan and he and I ran around the house all afternoon. I tried getting him to nap in between all the tea I drank(seriously-I have been through 2 boxes in a few days). It didn't work. Jordy and Moshe S. came home from English and played all afternoon. Danya returned right before dinner and everyone ate. Nadav went to bed while Danya and Jordy played in the attic. I then headed out to the doctors and was happy when he gave me a prescription to fix me. I then headed straight to zumba. I know, I should have probably headed home but I was all hopped up on the caffeine from all the tea plus since Vered(the zumba teacher) hurt her back there isn't always zumba so I want to go when I have the chance. I came home and drank 2 more cups of tea and now I am sure I won't be able to sleep.

Followers

Before I begin I would like to welcome my 2 new followers. Bringing my follower-ship up from 5 to 7. Aren't I popular???

Sunday morning was the usual Nadav waking up and coming to my bed. We eventually got up and headed to school/gan/the gym. I returned from the gym and spent the rest of the morning at home. In the afternoon I got Nadav to take a nap in my bed. Yakir came over in the afternoon. He played with Jordy until Jordy had to go to chug torani. Then he wanted to watch Blue's Clues with Nadav.
Everyone ate dinner and Danya and I played a game of Ticket To Ride before bed.
This morning, after Nadav's 5:30am wake up call, Josh got everyone out and to school gan. I hung out at home and cleaned the kitchen. In the afternoon I tried to get Nadav to nap but wasn't successful. At one point I found him standing in my bathtub.
Sorry it's such a bad picture-when I use the zoom on my camera it gets blurry. Unless you want to buy me a new camera you'll have to deal with the blurry pictures.

Jordy was home with Moshe B. all afternoon and Danya was at Tamar's doing a school project and then she went to Bnei Akiva. I went to the doctor to check out my shoulder which I thought was out of the socket. Nadav fell asleep laying on it the other day and I moved it at a strange angle to slide it out from under him when he fell asleep and I heard a pop. The doctor doesn't think it is out of it's socket but thinks I did something so I now have to get xrays and see an orthopedist. Or I can just wait it out. After Nadav went to sleep Jordy taught me how to play Mario Kart. Apparently I am not very good at it. Jordy, on the other hand, is very good. Danya came home and was excited to see that I got her the English version of The Diary of a Wimpy Kid(she already has it in Hebrew).

Lots of Coffee

Wednesday morning Nadav pulled what is becoming his usual-wake up in the early hours of the morning and insist on sharing my pillow with me. Everyone went to gan/school. I ran a whole bunch of errands-in kiryat sefer, shilat and modiin. I ended up returning just in time to pick up Nadav from Gan. I think I took Nadav for a ride in the afternoon and then sat in the car reading for an hour or so until he finished napping. Danya was home in the afternoon studying for a test and Jordy went to Moshe S. after English. My zumba class was canceled so we hung out at home most the evening. Danya and I went for a short ride to drop something off at someone's house but that was it.
Thursday morning Nadav and I were awake for a long time before everyone headed out. I was really hoping to go back to sleep but I got started on the cooking, cleaning and laundry and forgot to go to sleep. I took another outdoor run-this one not as bad as the day before but still not great. I picked up Nadav and then had a VERY long afternoon. I tried to get him to go to sleep in the car but was unsuccessful so we came home and then attempted nap time in my bed. He finally fell asleep and then kept waking up so I kept running upstairs to calm him down. I did some cooking in between calming him down. A few minutes after he woke up I had to pick Jordy up from a friends and drive him and his friends to a birthday party. We came home and I cooked some dinner for a friend who has pneumonia(more for her family than her). A short while later Nadav and I went to pick Jordy and friends up from the birthday party to drop them off at a chug torani BBQ and to drop dinner off at my friends. We came home and I gave Nadav some chicken and rice for dinner. Danya came home shortly after and then Josh picked Jordy up. Everyone went to sleep and I finished my cooking.
Friday morning was another fun Nadav morning. Once everyone left for school I got moving on Shabbat prep. I picked Nadav up from gan and the rest of the day was pretty typical. Friday night we had a quiet dinner. There was fighting amongst the kids after dinner which is always a fun way to spend a Friday night. The Brodsky's came over after dinner and we chatted until the lights went out.
Shabbat morning Nadav came into my bed at 5am and then we all fell back asleep eventually and overslept. We woke up at 8:40-Danya and Jordy ate their breakfast and had already gotten ready to leave for kids minyan. Nadav was in a decent mood and I was able to get the table and kitchen ready for lunch while drinking buckets of coffee. We had the Mor's over for lunch. We had a really nice time and they stayed until close to 3. Nadav and I took a nap and slept almost until Shabbat was over while Jordy played with a friend and Danya went to Bnei Akiva. Josh also napped for a little bit. Before we knew it Shabbat was over. After Shabbat Josh and Danya went to the parents learning at Rimon so Danya could study for her Torah test tomorrow. Everyone ate dinner and headed to bed.

Sleeping on the Floor

Last night after I wrote the blog Josh came to tell me that I needed to look in Nadav's room because he had slid off his bed and was sleeping on the floor partially under the bed.

Of course Nadav woke up a few times last night and only wanted to be in my bed-which always means a great sleep for me. Josh brought him back to his bed at some point and then he came back around 6. Danya and Jordy woke up and were ready to return to school. We all headed out and I dropped everyone off and headed to Rami Levy. I bought a ridiculous amount of groceries and then returned to unpack. Josh came down a little later and seemed to be feeling slightly better. I then went to a clothing sale at someones house and then to meet Lisa at her new house to give her my opinion on her kitchen. I returned home to eat lunch and then back out to pick up Nadav. We came home and hung out here all afternoon where it was quiet(aside from Nadav screaming all afternoon). Danya and Jordy returned just in time for dinner- spaghetti pie. Everyone did their homework and studied for tests. After getting everyone semi settled I left to attempt running outside on the hills of the yishuv. I was happy with the results but my lungs kill from the cold air.

Home Sick

Sunday morning I was really happy that Nadav slept until 6 in his bed! Hooray! Jordy and Josh were still sick. I took Danya and Nadav to school and then I came home to take a short nap and then headed to book club. I came home and Jordy and I read and played cards. Aside from the 102 fever he was completely fine. I picked Nadav up from Gan and he was crabby. Danya returned from school and Jordy's friend stopped by with his homework. I took Nadav for a ride and when he fell asleep we sat in the car in the driveway while I read. Nadav woke up from me coughing and then he was not a happy camper the rest of the afternoon. After dinner I went to my Modiin book club.
Today Jordy was still sick and Danya complained that her stomach hurt her. So they were home. I took Nadav to gan and then went to Zumba. The rest of the morning was spent at home. I picked Nadav up from gan and he was in a good mood. It went bad later as he wouldn't nap. We watched a lot of Blue's Clues and encouraged Danya and Jordy to do homework and study for their mutual tests. Dinner was take out pizza. When they went to bed Danya was all better and Jordy was feeling better but he still had a fever. Josh is starting to feel better.

Happy HEALTHY New Year

Thursday night I told you that Nadav had woken up and then fell back asleep in my bed. Well after another half hour he was awake and miserable. In addition to his "itchy peh" he was complaining that his ear itched. I think he thinks itchy means hurts. Anyhow he was going a little nutty so I put him in the stroller at 1:30am and took him on a walk around the block. We walked past the very wonderfully smelling bakery. We strolled past neighbors who have chickens making noises in their backyard. We came home and Nadav was still wide awake and miserable. He watched a little Elmo and then I laid down with him on the living room floor and he finally fell asleep and I moved him to his bed at 2:30. In the morning Josh got Danya and Jordy to school and Nadav and I hung out at home doing the cooking and Shabbat prep and then at 11 we headed to Modiin to the doctors office. I told the doctor that I was not leaving without medicine. She said he had an ear infection and gave us a prescription which we had to wait a half hour to fill. I picked up a cup of coffee at English Cake and then we came home. Friday night we had dinner with Robert. After dinner the Brodsky's and Block's came over and we spent the entire evening talking until we rang in the New Year. Of course at 2am Nadav woke up but he went back to bed in his own bed-yay!
Shabbat morning we were up early and Nadav was very crabby. Everyone in the house seemed overtired. After shul and kiddush Josh watched Nadav and I went to sleep. In the afternoon Josh started not feeling great. After Shabbat he took his temperature and sure enough he had 103. Ouch. Then at 7pm Jordy came into the kitchen bundled in his warm pajamas saying he was freezing and he had 102. I got everyone settled and then headed to Modiin by myself for a Bat Mitzvah. It was long and I came home and collapsed at 11pm.
